Faith 417

Faith with chronic illness: a Christian devotional for long-haul bodies

Chronic illness is not a lack of faith, and pain is not a verdict on you. When Paul pleaded for his own thorn to be removed, the Lord answered, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, ESV). Faith 417’s seven-day journey, Faith With Chronic Illness, makes room to ask God for healing and to trust Him in the meantime, with daily mercy for daily pain and the hope of a day with no more pain. Each day is about 5–8 minutes, with a reading, one truth, a short prayer, and one small step.

The seven days

Chronic illness needs medical care alongside faith. Stay connected to your doctors. If pain or despair becomes unsafe, reach a pastor, counselor, or crisis support. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911.
