Faith 417
Grace for family caregivers: a Christian devotional for the caregiving load
Caring for a parent, spouse, child, or sibling is love, and it can also be heavy. Medications, appointments, hard decisions, and the slow grief of watching someone change. Scripture says, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2, ESV). Faith 417’s seven-day journey, Grace for Family Caregiving Load, covers costly love, your identity beyond the role, asking for help without guilt, grief in the long goodbye, and wisdom for hard decisions. Each day is about 5–8 minutes, with a reading, one truth, a short prayer, and one small step.
The seven days
- Day 1, Love that costs (John 15:13)
- Day 2, You are more than the role (Isaiah 43:1)
- Day 3, Ask for help without guilt (Exodus 18:17–18)
- Day 4, Grief in the long goodbye (Psalm 31:9, 14–15)
- Day 5, Guard your own soul (Mark 6:31)
- Day 6, Wisdom for hard decisions (James 1:5)
- Day 7, Sustained for the long haul (Isaiah 40:29–31)
Family caregiving can lead to burnout, depression, or crisis. If you’re drowning, isolating, or unsafe, talk with a pastor, counselor, doctor, or caregiver support resource. Love includes getting help for yourself.
