Burnout renewal: a Christian devotion for running on empty
Burnout is not a lack of faith, and naming it is not the end of usefulness. Faith 417’s seven-day journey, Renewal When You’re Burned Out, starts where Jesus starts: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Each day is about 5–8 minutes, with a reading, one truth, a short prayer, and one small step.
The seven days
- Day 1, Admit the empty (Psalm 62:1–2)
- Day 2, Come to Jesus weary (Matthew 11:28–30)
- Day 3, Stop striving for a moment (Psalm 46:10)
- Day 4, Recover margins with Sabbath rhythm (Exodus 20:8–10)
- Day 5, Release what isn’t yours (Galatians 6:2, 5)
- Day 6, Rebuild with kindness to your body, as God met Elijah with food and rest (1 Kings 19:5–8)
- Day 7, Hope for a different pace (Isaiah 40:31)
Burnout often sits next to caregiver fatigue and exhaustion. If you are caring for someone you love, the caregiver fatigue journey has free sample days. Faith and wise help belong together, so please talk with a doctor or counselor too if you feel unable to function.
