Faith 417
Sabbath rest devotional: rest as gift
Many of us only rest when we collapse. Jesus offers something better: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, ESV). Faith 417’s seven-day journey, Sabbath and Holy Rest, starts with God resting on the seventh day and walks through rest as remembering freedom, delight that honors the Lord, resisting hustle guilt, and keeping a weekly rhythm. It notes where Christians differ on how the Sabbath applies today. Each day is about 5–8 minutes.
The seven days
- Day 1, Rest is God’s idea (Genesis 2:2–3)
- Day 2, Come weary (Matthew 11:28–30)
- Day 3, Stop to remember (Deuteronomy 5:12–15)
- Day 4, Delight, don’t just collapse (Isaiah 58:13–14)
- Day 5, Resist hustle guilt (Psalm 46:10)
- Day 6, Rest prepares you to love (Mark 6:31)
- Day 7, Keep a weekly rhythm (Exodus 20:8–10)
