When anxiety comes back: a Christian devotional for relapse days
You were doing better, and then the anxiety came back. A returning fear is not proof that you failed or that God gave up on you. Paul wrote, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 1:6, ESV). Faith 417’s seven-day journey, When Anxiety Comes Back, is a gentle reset with no shame: returning to what helped, casting your cares again, caring for body and soul together, and telling someone. Each day is about 5–8 minutes, with a reading, one truth, a short prayer, and one small step.
The seven days
- Day 1, Relapse isn’t ruin (Psalm 37:23–24)
- Day 2, Return to what worked (Jeremiah 6:16)
- Day 3, Cast again (1 Peter 5:7)
- Day 4, Speak to the spiral (Psalm 42:5)
- Day 5, Body and soul together (1 Kings 19:5–8)
- Day 6, Tell someone (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10)
- Day 7, Forward again (Philippians 1:6)
If anxiety includes panic that won’t stop, being unable to function, or thoughts of harming yourself, contact a pastor, counselor, doctor, or crisis line. Returning to care is wisdom, not failure. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call 911.
